about the Future Impacts of climate change Panel:
This will be the second panel in the series and will take place on October 24th at 10-11 AM (PDT). It will focus on the impacts of climate change that include and go beyond the environmental aspects. For example, some speakers may address how climate change will impact housing prices or global food security, while others may address how it will impact the amazing natural ecosystems of our planet. This panel aims to show that climate change isn’t only an issue of losing precious biodiversity or habitats (even though that is a large consideration and part of the issue). What we do right now will impact both the natural environment and humans, both those of our generation as well as those in every generation that is to come.
Meet the panelists:
Eliza Nemser, PhD
GEOSCIENTIST; CLIMATE ORGANIZER, STRATEGIST, AND ADVOCATE
Eliza Nemser is an earth scientist turned environmental strategist and advocate. The historic October 2017 wildfires and related health hazards from wildfire smoke marked a turning point in Eliza’s career, and she pivoted to climate politics after a decade working in environmental consulting as an induced seismicity expert. As a consultant with the NRDC Action Fund, Eliza works to promote science-based, health-protective environmental policies; organize advocacy events; and advance public health-centered environmental messaging tactics for political candidates. Eliza is also a GiveGreen Ambassador, working strategically to support pro-environment candidates and accelerate progress on the climate crisis. Eliza recently co-founded Climate Changemakers, a growing all-volunteer and nonpartisan community created to empower climate-concerned citizens to channel their concern into an hour per week of high-leverage action towards climate solutions. A native New Yorker, Eliza has a PhD and MS in Earth and Space Sciences from the University of Washington, Seattle; a BA from Williams College; and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Instituto Superior Técnico in Lisbon, Portugal.
